How are winners selected?
Scholarship winners will be chosen on a competitive basis and without regard to family financial circumstances. Winners will be evaluated by the Forever Jordan Foundation by reviewing several factors about each eligible candidate; these include academic record throughout high school, the similarities they find themselves in comparison to Jordan Esposito and her courage along with their significant activities and contributions to the school and community and the student's essay about personal characteristics, activities, plans and goals. All winners are notified directly by the Forever Jordan Foundation, prior to any public announcement that may be made about recipients. The applications are to come from the students themselves, not through recommendations of the guidance department or school affiliated persons.
Essay Requirements?
Essay should discuss the ways in which the student has given back to the Rockland County or Global Community and the affect it has had on them. It should also include how they resemble or have the attributes of the Foundations inspiration, Jordan Esposito. Her story can be found at Jordan's Story. The essay must be a minimum of 1,000 words but may not exceed 1,500 words.
What is the amount of the award?
The Forever Jordan Scholarship is an award of $1,000 per student. The winner’s award will not be affected by other scholarship aid.
Are there terms and conditions that Forever Jordan Foundation Scholarship winners must meet?
Yes. A formal offer of a Forever Jordan Foundation Scholarship award is sent to each winner specifying terms for acceptance. A winner must enter college in the fall term following selection and must enroll as a full time undergraduate in a college or university in the United States that holds accredited status with a regional accrediting commission on higher education.
